I have built software the slow, careful way, and I have built it the fast, reckless way. For most of my career those were the only two options, and you had to pick. This is the thing I could never make peace with — and the reason Tadabase AI exists. Consider it our manifesto, written plainly.
The choice I got tired of
For twenty years, building business software meant choosing a side. You could move fast or you could be safe. You could have a beautiful, modern app or a governed, auditable one. You could ship this week or you could pass the security review. The tools forced the trade, and everyone learned to live with whichever half they sacrificed.
You could have software that shipped this week, or software a security team would sign off on. Almost never both.
I never believed that trade was a law of nature. It was a limitation of the tooling. And tooling changes.
Then two things became true at once
First, generating a frontend stopped being expensive. An agent can now write a real, production-grade interface from a sentence, in seconds, and rewrite it just as fast. The single most costly part of building — getting from a blank page to something real — collapsed to nearly nothing.
Second, the governed backend grew up. Relational data, role-based access, row-level security, audit, compliance — the unglamorous machinery that serious businesses actually require — became something you could rely on as a platform instead of rebuilding for every app. The moment those two things were true together, the old trade-off was no longer necessary. We just had to build the thing that assumed it was gone.
What we believe
- The backend should be locked, governed, and boring — and you should never have to rebuild it.
- The frontend should be free, expressive, and disposable — describe it, regenerate it, throw it away.
- AI should not just build your app. It should live inside it, working for the people who use it.
- Every AI action should run as a real user, under real permissions, inside a real audit trail.
- Speed should never cost you trust, and trust should never cost you speed.
- You should own what you build, and be able to walk away with it.
None of these are radical on their own. Holding all six at the same time is the whole point — because every existing category gives up at least one of them.
Two kinds of AI, and we refuse to ship only one
Most of this industry is racing to build one AI: the one that writes your app. We build that too. But the AI we are most proud of is the second one — the AI that lives inside the app once it exists. Your users can ask their data questions in plain English. They get insights written for them, grounded in their real records. Agents do the busywork and stop to ask permission before anything that matters.
An app that was built by AI is a nice story. An app that runs on AI — safely, for the people using it every day — is the product. You cannot build the second one on a fake backend. That is the whole reason we started where we started.
Who we're for, and what we're against
We are not against the vibe-coding tools — they gave the world a taste of building by describing, and that magic is real. We are not against the enterprise platforms — they made governance non-negotiable, and they were right to. What we are against is the assumption that you have to choose between them. The vibe coders gave you magic without trust. The incumbents gave you trust without magic. We refuse to pick, because we no longer have to.
The bet
So here is what we are building, in one breath: a governed backend you can stake a company on, an AI that builds the frontend from a sentence, and AI features your end-users actually use — all under one permission model, one audit trail, one URL. Describe it like it is magic. Run it like it is regulated. Both, at the same time, with no apology to either side.
