Short answer: the closest Base44 alternatives are the other AI builders that write the app for you from a chat. Lovable, Bolt and Replit build and host a full web app and write it as code you can open and edit. v0 by Vercel generates React front ends that deploy to Vercel. Tadabase AI builds the app on a relational backend with roles, row-level security, workflows and unlimited app users, which suits business apps that clients or staff log into. Which one fits depends on why you are looking: the price of credits, the data model, code you control, or compliance. This guide compares them on what each vendor publishes (read on 2026-10-12), says where Base44 is still the better pick, and shows how to move your data.

What Base44 does well #

Base44 turns a description into a hosted app with a database, logins and a visual editor, and it is one of the fastest ways to get from an idea to something you can click. Its pricing page, read on 2026-10-12, lists a free plan with 25 message credits a month and up to 5 apps, then Starter, Builder, Pro and Elite at $16, $40, $80 and $160 a month billed annually. Paid plans include an unlimited number of apps, GitHub integration starts on Builder, and SSO sits on Enterprise. Its security page lists an independent SOC 2 Type II audit and ISO 27001 certification.

So the question is rarely whether Base44 works. It is whether it fits the app you are building now. These are the reasons people usually start comparing:

  • Credits. Base44 counts AI messages and integration actions against a monthly allowance. If you iterate a lot, the plan you need is set by how many messages you send, not by how many people use the app.
  • The data model. Base44 stores data as entities in a NoSQL database and adds custom logic through serverless functions. Apps with linked records, such as clients, orders and invoices, can fit a relational database more naturally.
  • Backend work. Approvals, scheduled reminders and documents are functions to write or integrations to wire up. Some teams want those as built-in features instead.
  • Regulated data. Base44's security page lists SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001 and GDPR and does not mention HIPAA or a Business Associate Agreement. Teams that store patient data need a vendor that signs one.

The Base44 alternatives worth knowing #

No-code builders such as Bubble, Glide and Softr are also on many shortlists. They are visual editors with AI features added, rather than chat-first builders, and they are compared one by one at tadabase.com/vs.

Compare what is underneath, not the demo #

Every builder on this list makes a good first screen. The differences show up a month later, when real people log in and the data grows. Compare these before you move:

If a security report from an independent auditor is a hard requirement today, Base44 has one and Tadabase AI does not. If your data is relational, your users are many, or you need a BAA, the right-hand column is where to look. How to move a Base44 app #

Your data moves; the screens are rebuilt. Base44's documentation describes a CSV export for each table, and its pricing page says two-way GitHub sync exports the full source code to your own repository. The data is the part worth carrying over.

  • Export each table. In the Base44 app editor, open Dashboard, then Data, select a table, open More actions and choose Export. Each table downloads as a CSV file.
  • Describe the app. Tell Tadabase AI what the app does and who uses it. It builds the tables, roles, rules and workflows with sample data.
  • Import your data. Import each CSV into its table. Fields that pointed at other records become relationships between tables.
  • Set the roles. Each role gets row-level security, so a client sees only records connected to them. The rule is enforced on the server, not by a filter on the page.
  • Test with a real login. Sign in as a test user in each role and check what they can see and change before you invite anyone.

The full side-by-side of the two products, including where Base44 wins, is at tadabase.com/vs/base44.

Build it on Tadabase AI #

Describe the app and the people who use it. For example:

A customer portal for our print shop: customers, orders, proofs and invoices. Customers log in and see only their own orders, approve proofs and download invoices. Staff see the orders assigned to them, admins see everything. Email the customer when a proof is ready, and remind them after two days if they have not approved it.

The AI builds the tables, roles, rules, screens and workflows on a backend that is already running, so there is no server or login system to set up. Then refine what it built in chat or in the editor and publish it; paid plans include a custom domain.

Common questions #

Who competes with Base44? Chat-first AI builders such as Lovable, Bolt, Replit and v0; AI app builders with a full backend such as Tadabase AI; and no-code builders that added AI, such as Bubble, Glide and Softr.

Is Base44 free? It has a free plan with 25 message credits and 100 integration credits a month and up to 5 apps (base44.com/pricing, 2026-10-12).

What is the cheapest Base44 alternative? Base44's own Starter plan, at $16 a month billed annually, costs less than the published entry prices of Replit Core ($18 billed annually), Tadabase AI Starter ($21 billed annually) and Bolt Pro ($25 billed monthly). Usage is counted differently on each, so compare the plan you would need for your app, not the entry price.

Can I export my Base44 app? Base44 says you own the code and data you build. Its pricing page describes two-way GitHub sync of the full source code, and each data table can be exported as CSV from the dashboard.

Does Base44 sign a BAA? Its security page lists SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001 and GDPR, and does not mention HIPAA or a BAA (read 2026-10-12). Ask any vendor for a signed BAA before you store patient data.

Is Tadabase AI a Base44 alternative? Yes, for business apps with users and records: client portals, CRMs, work orders, case management. Both build a hosted app from a description. Tadabase AI builds on a relational backend with visual workflows, unlimited app users and HIPAA-eligible plans; Base44 has a lower entry price and an independent SOC 2 Type II audit.

Can I try Tadabase AI for free? Yes. Every account starts on the free plan with no card: 5 credits a day plus a one-time 300-credit welcome bonus. There is no trial clock.

Where to start #

Write down why you are looking: credits, the data model, the code, the people who log in, or compliance. If it is the code, try a chat-first code generator. If it is the people and the records, export one Base44 table as CSV and describe the app to Tadabase AI on the free plan.
