Short answer: the best no-code app builder depends on what you are building. Bubble is the most flexible visual builder for web apps. Glide and Softr turn spreadsheets and databases into apps fast. Knack, Caspio and Zoho Creator are online databases with forms, views and logins. FlutterFlow and Adalo lean towards mobile apps. Tadabase AI builds the whole app from a description, on a relational backend with roles, row-level security, workflows and unlimited app users. The bigger change is how you build: most of these tools now have an AI that drafts the app for you, so the differences that remain are the data, the users and what you can take with you. This guide compares them on what each vendor publishes (read on 2026-10-14) and says where each one wins.
Describe the app you need — we’ll build it now.

What a no-code app builder is #
A no-code app builder lets you make a working web or mobile app without writing code. You define the data, lay out the screens, set the rules and publish, using visual editors, templates and, more and more, an AI that does the first draft from a description.
Every real app has the same five parts, and a builder is only as good as its weakest one:
- Data. Tables and the links between them: clients and their orders, students and their classes.
- Screens. Forms, lists, detail pages and dashboards.
- Logic. What happens when a record changes: approvals, reminders, emails, calculations.
- Users. Who can log in, and which records each person can see and change.
- Hosting. Where the app runs, on what domain, and whether you can take it with you.
What changed in 2026 #
Not long ago, choosing a no-code tool meant choosing an editor: a canvas, a spreadsheet view or a form builder. Now almost every builder on this list has an AI that drafts the app from a sentence, and a new group of AI app builders writes the whole app from a chat. Picking by editor matters less.
What still separates them is underneath the first screen: whether the data is relational, how the people who log in are priced, whether security is enforced on the server, how far the app can grow, and whether the app or its code can leave the platform. Those are the columns below. For the difference between no-code, low-code and AI builders as categories, see tadabase.com/blog/no-code-vs-low-code-vs-ai-builders.
The best no-code app builders in 2026 #
Each line below was read on the vendor's own pricing page or plan documentation on 2026-10-14, in US dollars. Where a page draws its prices with a script we could not read, the table says so. Plans change often in this category, so check before you commit.

Five questions that decide it #
Every builder here makes a good demo. The differences show up when real people log in and the data grows. Ask each one:
- How are the people who use the app charged? Per user, in packs of seats, or unlimited on the plan. This decides the bill for a client portal or a field team.
- Is the data relational? Clients, orders and invoices are linked records. A spreadsheet-shaped tool strains when every record points at three others.
- Where is access enforced? A rule that hides rows on a page is not the same as a rule the server enforces on every request. Test it with a real login in each role.
- What are the limits? Records per app or per table, file storage, apps per plan, and what happens when you pass them.
- Can the app leave? Some builders export source code, some only export data. If the platform changes its price or owner, that decides your options.
How to choose #
| If you need | Look at |
|---|---|
| Pixel-level control of a complex web app, and you will invest in learning the tool | Bubble |
| Apps for a team that already lives in Google Workspace or Zoho | AppSheet or Zoho Creator |
| A simple app on top of a spreadsheet, live this afternoon | Glide |
| A portal or internal tool on data you already keep in Airtable or a sheet | Softr |
| A classic forms-and-tables online database your team clicks together | Knack, Caspio or Zoho Creator |
| A native mobile app in the app stores | FlutterFlow or Adalo |
| An app built from a description, with linked records, roles and row-level security | Tadabase AI |
| Many clients, members or staff logging in without a per-user bill | A builder with unlimited app users, such as Tadabase AI, Knack or Caspio |
| Approvals, reminders and scheduled jobs without writing code | Tadabase AI workflows and scheduled tasks |
| Patient data | A vendor that signs a BAA; Tadabase AI has HIPAA-eligible plans |
Where Tadabase AI fits, honestly #
Tadabase AI is an AI app builder for business apps: client portals, CRMs, work orders, case management, school and member systems. You describe the app and the people who use it, and it builds the tables, roles, rules, screens and workflows on a backend that is already running. Access rules are enforced on the server, app users are unlimited on every plan, the React front end syncs to GitHub, and HIPAA-eligible plans come with a BAA.
It is not the right pick for everything. If you want to hand-place every pixel of a consumer web app, Bubble's canvas gives more control. If you need a native app in the App Store, FlutterFlow and Adalo are built for that. If you need an independent security audit report today, note that Tadabase AI is built to SOC 2 guidelines and is not independently audited.
Build one on Tadabase AI #
Describe the app and the people who use it. For example:
A work order app for our maintenance company: clients, sites, work orders and invoices. Clients log in and see only their own sites and work orders, and can request a new job. Technicians see the jobs assigned to them and mark them done with photos. Email the client when a job is finished, and remind the office every Monday about unpaid invoices.
The AI builds it with sample data. Refine it in chat or in the editor, sign in as a test user in each role to check what they see, then publish it; paid plans include a custom domain. Every account starts on the free plan with no card.
Common questions #
What is the best no-code app builder? There is no single best one. Bubble is the most flexible visual builder for web apps, Glide is the fastest from a spreadsheet, FlutterFlow and Adalo suit mobile apps, and Tadabase AI suits business apps where many people log in and each sees only their own records.
Can I build an app without coding? Yes. Every builder on this list builds and hosts a working app without code. Most now also draft the first version from a description.
What is the difference between no-code and an AI app builder? A no-code builder gives you visual editors to assemble the app yourself. An AI app builder writes the app from a chat and lets you refine it. The line is blurring, because most no-code tools have added an AI that drafts apps. The longer answer is at tadabase.com/blog/what-is-an-ai-app-builder.
Is no-code secure? It depends on where access is enforced. Ask whether row-level rules run on the server for every request, whether there is two-factor sign-in and SSO, and whether the vendor has an audit report or signs a BAA if you need one. Then test with a real login in each role.
Which no-code app builders let you export the code? FlutterFlow's pricing page lists source code download from its Basic plan, and Tadabase AI syncs the React front end to GitHub. Bubble's manual says Bubble apps can only run on the Bubble platform and cannot be exported as code. Most of the others export your data, not the app.
Which ones charge per user? Airtable charges per collaborator with edit access, AppSheet needs a licence for every user, Quickbase prices per user plus a platform minimum, and Zoho Creator prices per user. Knack, Caspio and Tadabase AI state unlimited users on their plans, and Softr caps app users by plan.
Which no-code builders sign a BAA for patient data? On their own pages: Caspio on its HIPAA plan, Knack on Knack Health and Enterprise, Quickbase on qualified plans, Airtable on Enterprise Scale, and AppSheet through its sales team. Bubble's manual says its platform does not meet HIPAA standards. Tadabase AI has HIPAA-eligible plans with a BAA.
Is there a free no-code app builder? Most builders here have a free plan with limits; the table above lists them. Tadabase AI's free plan has 5 credits a day plus a one-time 300-credit welcome bonus, with no card and no trial clock.
Where to start #
Write down the app in one paragraph: the records, the people who log in, and what each of them should see and do. Then try that same paragraph on two builders from the table and compare what you get after an hour. If the people and the records are the hard part, start with Tadabase AI on the free plan. If you are coming from a specific tool, the side-by-side pages are at tadabase.com/vs.
