Short answer: if you are building a website, a prototype or an app you want as code, Bolt.new is hard to beat and the closest alternatives are the other chat-to-code builders. If you are building a business app, one where clients or staff log in, records link to each other and each person should see only their own, look for a builder that ships those parts already working: a relational database, roles, row-level security enforced on the server, and workflows. Tadabase AI builds that kind of app from a description, with unlimited app users on every paid plan. This guide lists what a business app needs, what Bolt's own pricing page includes (read on 2026-10-26), where Bolt is still the better pick, and how to choose.

Describe the app you need — we’ll build it now.

What Bolt does well #

Bolt turns a chat into a website or web app written as code, with hosting and databases included. Its pricing page, read on 2026-10-26, lists a free plan with 1M tokens a month (300K a day), Bolt branding on sites, unlimited databases and website hosting. Pro is $18 a month billed annually ($25 billed monthly) with 10M tokens that roll over, your own domain and a choice of database provider. Teams is $27 per member a month billed annually. SSO, audit logs and SOC 2 Type II sit on Enterprise.

If you can read the code it writes and want to own every line, that is a real strength. People usually start comparing when the project stops being a site and becomes something a business runs on:

  • Tokens grow with the project. Bolt's FAQ says most token use comes from syncing the project's files to the AI, so the larger the project, the more tokens each message uses.
  • Permissions live in the code. Who can see which record is whatever the generated code and the database rules enforce. Someone has to check that, every time the code changes.
  • Backend work is code to write. Approvals, reminders, scheduled jobs and documents are features to ask the AI for and then maintain.
  • Team controls are a plan decision. SSO and audit logs are on Bolt's Enterprise plan, which is a custom contract.

What a business app needs #

A demo needs a good first screen. A business app needs the parts that keep working once real people log in and the data grows. Check every alternative against this list:

PartWhy it mattersWhat to ask the builder
Linked dataClients have orders, orders have invoices, jobs have visits. Records point at each other. Is the database relational, with relationships between tables?
Logins and rolesClients, staff, managers and admins do different things. Are roles built in, and is there a per-user price?
Record-level permissionsA client must see only their own records, even if they call the API directly. Is the rule enforced on the server, per row, or by a filter on the page?
WorkflowsApprovals, reminders, emails and scheduled jobs are most of the work. Are these built-in steps, or code the AI writes?
Your data, outYou will import from spreadsheets and may leave one day.Is there CSV import and export?
Your code, outSome teams want the front end in their own repository.Does it sync to GitHub?

The Bolt alternatives, by what they build #

OptionWhat it buildsBest for
LovableWeb apps written as code from a chat, with a built-in backend and Git syncFounders who want a polished web app and the code behind it
ReplitApps built by an agent in a full cloud development environment, with databases and deploymentDevelopers who want an IDE behind the agent
v0 by VercelReact front ends and apps that deploy to VercelTeams already on Vercel who will bring or build the backend
Base44Hosted apps with a database, logins and a visual editor from a descriptionFast internal apps and prototypes
Tadabase AIBusiness apps on a relational backend: tables, roles, row-level security, workflows, hosting, and a React front end that syncs to GitHubApps that clients, staff or members log into, where who sees which record matters

Patient data (HIPAA)Not mentioned on the pricing pageHIPAA-eligible plans with a BAA

If you want every line of the code, the lowest entry price, or an audited SOC 2 report from your builder, Bolt has those and Tadabase AI does not. If the app is linked records and many logins, the right-hand column is the one to test.

How to choose #

Moving a Bolt project to Tadabase AI #

Your data moves; the app is rebuilt on the new backend. The part worth carrying over is the data and what you learned about the app.

  • Export the data. Export each table from the database behind your Bolt project as a CSV file.
  • Describe the app. Tell Tadabase AI what the app does and who uses it, using your Bolt prompts as a starting point. It builds the tables, roles, rules and workflows with sample data.
  • Import your data. Import each CSV into its table, mapping columns to fields. Fields that pointed at other records become relationships between tables.
  • Set the roles. Each role gets row-level security, so a client sees only records connected to them. The rule is enforced on the server, not by a filter on the page.
  • Test with a real login. Sign in as a test user in each role and check what they can see and change before you invite anyone.

Build it on Tadabase AI #

Describe the app and the people who use it. For example:

A job tracker for our cleaning company: clients, sites, jobs and invoices. Clients log in and see only their own sites, jobs and invoices. Cleaners see the jobs assigned to them and mark them done with a photo. Managers approve jobs before the invoice goes out, and the client gets an email when it does.

The AI builds the tables, roles, rules, screens and workflows on a backend that is already running, so there is no server, database or login system to set up. Refine it in chat or in the editor, then publish; paid plans include a custom domain.

Common questions #

What are the best Bolt.new alternatives? For code you own: Lovable, Replit and v0. For a hosted app from a description: Base44. For business apps with many logins, linked records and record-level permissions: Tadabase AI.

Is Bolt free? Yes. The free plan includes 1M tokens a month with a 300K daily limit, unlimited databases, website hosting and Bolt branding on sites (bolt.new/pricing, 2026-10-26).

How much is Bolt Pro? $18 a month billed annually, or $25 billed monthly, with 10M tokens a month that roll over (bolt.new/pricing, 2026-10-26).

Does Bolt have SSO? SSO is listed on Bolt's Enterprise plan, along with audit logs and SOC 2 Type II. On Tadabase AI, SSO and audit logs are on the Business plan.

Can Bolt build business apps? Yes, as code. The question is who maintains the permissions, workflows and data model once people rely on it. Tadabase AI ships those as working parts of the platform instead of code in your project.

Is Tadabase AI a Bolt alternative? Yes, for business apps that people log into: client portals, CRMs, work orders, case management. Both build from a chat. Tadabase AI builds on a relational backend with server-side row-level security, visual workflows and unlimited app users; Bolt writes the whole app as code and has a lower entry price.

Can I try Tadabase AI for free? Yes. Every account starts with a 14-day free trial, no card needed, and a one-time 300-credit welcome bonus.

Where to start #

Write down who will log in and what each of them should see. If the answer is just you, Bolt is probably fine. If it is clients, staff and managers with different rights, describe the app to Tadabase AI during the 14-day free trial and test it with a login in each role.
