Tadabase AI vs Quickbase Pave: the honest comparison.

Pave is Quickbase's AI app builder: one free app, then credit bundles from $20 a month. Tadabase AI writes React you can export to GitHub, from $25.

Describe the app you’d build in Quickbase Pave — we’ll build it now.

Plain English is enough. You get a working app with a real database, logins and roles, free to start.

Plain English. It asks follow-up questions like a real developer.

A governed app on Quickbase or a governed app you own.

Pave is Quickbase's AI app builder, launched in April 2026. You describe the work in plain language, it asks follow-up questions, and it generates a working app with the data, roles, permissions, workflows and hosting on Quickbase's infrastructure; you keep iterating in Pave's no-code interface. Every plan includes hosting, 350+ connectors and automated workflows. Credits pay for building and changing apps, running workflows and automations, agent tasks and integrations; adding data, inviting users and viewing dashboards do not use credits. Free gives you 1 app, 1 builder, up to 3 users and 100 credits. Launch, the paid plan, is sold as a monthly credit bundle (120, 240, 600 or 1,200 runtime credits for $20, $40, $100 or $200 a month) with unlimited apps, and the pricing page lists no user cap for it. Extra credits are one-time $20 top-ups. Enterprise is quoted and adds SSO, MFA and onboarding from a forward deployed engineer; API access and white labeling are listed as not yet available. Quickbase's platform holds SOC 2 Type II and offers a BAA to its Business and Enterprise customers on annual terms; Pave's own pages do not say whether that BAA covers Pave apps or mention exporting code.

Tadabase AI also starts from a description, and generates real React on Tadabase: a relational database with relationships, authentication, roles and row- and field-level security enforced on the backend, visual workflows, scheduled tasks, webhooks, Python custom-code actions, PDFs and file storage. The code syncs to GitHub, so the front end is yours to keep. App users are unlimited on every paid plan, a free plan needs no card, and paid plans run from $25 to $250 a month with 1,000 or more AI credits, 3 to 50 published apps, 1 to 25 builder seats and 25,000 to 500,000 records per app; custom domains and badge removal are on every plan. End users get Ask, Analyze and Agents that act through your workflows and pause for approval, spending the account's AI credits. HIPAA-eligible plans come with a BAA. Controls are built to SOC 2 guidelines and are not independently audited.

The part Quickbase Pave can’t match.

Generating the screens is table stakes now. What you ship on top (real AI for your end-users, agents that act, and security that holds up) is where Tadabase AI is built differently.

  • Your users ask. The app answers.

    Front-end AI

End-users type a question in plain English — "show me overdue invoices this month" — and get a real answer as a table, chart, or number, pulled live from your data and scoped to exactly what that user is allowed to see.

  • Insights, not just dashboards.

    Front-end AI

Analyze reads the numbers your users already pulled and writes the takeaway — trends, outliers, what changed since last week — grounded in the real records, never made up.

  • Agents that take action.

    AI agents

Put an AI agent inside your app to qualify leads, triage tickets, or send follow-ups. It reads, plans, and acts through your workflows — and pauses for human approval before anything high-stakes. Every action is logged.

  • Security as a default.

    Security

Row-level security carried by JWT all the way to the backend, 2FA, SSO and SAML, full audit logs, and a pre-deploy security pass that catches committed secrets and missing auth before you publish.

  • Ready for regulated work.

    Compliance

HIPAA-eligible plans for healthcare, controls built to SOC 2 guidelines (not independently audited), encryption in transit and at rest, per-tenant container isolation, and a DPA on request — GDPR and CCPA aligned.

  • A real backend, included.

    Real backend

Database with relationships, authentication, visual workflows, PDF generation, file uploads, schedules, and webhooks ship with your first deploy — powered by Tadabase, already running real businesses for years. Nothing to wire up.

How is Tadabase AI different from Quickbase Pave?

Both turn a plain-language description into a working business app with data, roles, permissions, workflows and hosting on a governed platform. Pave builds the app on Quickbase and you keep editing it in Pave's no-code interface; its pages do not mention exporting code. Tadabase AI generates the front end as real React on Tadabase's relational backend, which you can sync to GitHub.

Is Quickbase Pave cheaper than Tadabase AI?

At the entry level, yes: Pave's Launch plan starts at $20 a month for 120 runtime credits with unlimited apps, against Tadabase AI's $25 Starter with 1,000 AI credits and 3 published apps (read on quickbase.com/pave/pricing on October 20, 2026). In October 2026 Pave replaced its Team and Department plans, which capped users at 10 and 50, with Launch, sold as $20, $40, $100 or $200 a month for 120, 240, 600 or 1,200 runtime credits. The two products do not spend credits on the same things, so compare the cost of the building and automation you expect to run, not the credit counts.

What do credits pay for on each?

On Pave, credits power building and modifying apps, running workflows and automations, agent tasks and integrations; adding data, inviting users and viewing dashboards do not use credits. Extra credits are one-time top-ups in $20 increments, and a Launch subscription gives 20% more credits per dollar than one-time packs. On Tadabase AI, AI credits pay for building with AI and for end-user AI (Ask, Analyze, Agents); the free plan gets 5 credits a day plus a 300-credit welcome bonus, and paid plans start at 1,000 credits a month.

Which one is HIPAA-eligible?

Quickbase's platform holds SOC 2 Type II and attests to the HIPAA Security Rule, and Quickbase includes a BAA for Business and Enterprise customers on annual or multi-year subscriptions; Pave's pricing page and Quickbase's compliance page do not say whether that covers Pave apps, so ask Quickbase. Tadabase AI offers HIPAA-eligible plans with a BAA, PHI access logs and field masking synced to row-level security. Its controls are built to SOC 2 guidelines and have not been independently audited.

Can I move a Pave or Quickbase app to Tadabase AI?

Yes, if you can get the data out as CSV. Import each table into Tadabase, and describe the app you want on top of it. Relationships become relationships, your roles become roles with row-level security, and the pages are rebuilt by Tadabase AI rather than copied. Check the permissions with a test user before you invite anyone.
